Community Picnic August 2014

There are lots of ways in which Church without Walls is involved in the local community, in fact, in many ways the distinction of church stuff/community stuff is not one that really fits with our ethos.

To be authentically ‘church’, a Christian community in this place, is to be involved in the community, part of making it a better place for everyone to live in.

So there are many community initiatives that Ruth, our Community Minister, is involved in, many community ventures where people from Church without Walls are taking  a lead.

Some run under a ‘Church without Walls’ banner, others don’t!

We hope to be like yeast in the community, being the extra ingredient that helps things happen, working with our neighbours to make this community and our world a better place to live in.

Other activities we are involved in

Knit, Natter & Sew: a weekly group for anyone who likes to make things. Every Monday from 10 to 11.30am at The Broughton Pub.

Coffee Morning: A monthly chance to meet old friends and new. Enjoy a cuppa and good company. Third Friday in the month from 10 to 11.30am at Broughton Pavilion.

Some of the things we’ve helped initiate

Supporting Xtra Special Families: a small charity offering fun events for families living with disabilities (email: sxsfenquiries@gmail.com)

Broughton & Brooklands Community Connectors: an umbrella group that helps organise and support events & activities, share experience & knowledge across the community ( email: bbcommunityconnectors@gmail.com)
